The Sienese March of Independence. Relay race between Siena’s districts to Montalcino, the last bastion of Sienese Republic which fell in 1559.
1th May - Sant’Angelo Scalo
Village fair in honour of the town's patron saint also featuring food and wine boothsl, singing by the group “Maggiaioli” and the donkey race.
May 7th and 8 th - Montalcino
The Festival of the Patron, S.S. Maria del Soccorso, including the offering of a Votive candle by the quarters (Ruga, Borghetto, Travaglio, Pianello). There is a village fair which features a concert by Filarmonica G.Puccini, bingo and fireworks from the Fortress.
10th – 11th May Castelnuovo dell’Abate
Liturgical ceremony in honour of the Patron Saint of Castelnuovo dell'Abate, St. Antimo.
The last week in May - Montalcino
The Travaglio Quarter along with the City of Montalcino recognizes exceptional poetry written by students from elementary, middle and high schools in the provinces of Siena and Grosseto. The awards cerimony takes place in the Astrusi Theatre of Montalcino.

September - Montalcino
The variety of events during the Honey Week, organized by A.S.G.A., mostly take place inside the XIV century Fortress of Montalcino. There is a national exhibition and market featuring products from the beehive such as cosmetics, apiarian equipment, books and melliferous plants. There is also a scientific congress which takes place at the Astrusi Theatre.

Studies, photographs and publications about Montalcino and its territory and recognized with the Casato Prime Donne, an award to woman and the local area. The ceremony take place inside the Astrusi Theatre in Montalcino.

A nationally recognized mountain bike competition through paths in the Val d’Orcia organized by the Orso on bike Association.
1st sunday of October - Camigliano
The Festival of the Rooster recalls feasts held in honour of Montalcino's Signori celebrated in the camigliano Castle since the XIV century. Hundreds of chickens are grilled over hot coals on a spit doused with litres of local wine.
The “Game of the Wheel” (La Druzzola) is a traditional game played in medieval costumes. It involves throwing the druzzola, a circular piece of olive wood on a sting.
Last sunday of October - Montalcino
Since 1957, Montalcino has celebrated the Festival of the Thrush on the last sunday of October. This is similar to the Opening of the Hunting Season, a smaller festival celebrated on the second sunday of August. Twince a year the four quarters of Montalcino, Borghetto (white and red), Pianello (white and blue), Ruga (yellow and blue) and Travaglio (red and yellow), challenge each other in an archery competition that inflames the hearts of the whole community.
